BRAND OF THE YEAR 2012 METRO CASH + CARRY GERMANY 'Piechy' wines are three premium South Australian wines - Shiraz, Chardonnay, Shiraz Rosé - released by METRO C + C (Germany) with Piechy, the dog I created in 2003, as their animal mascot and brand. The labels for the three wines come from a series of nine paintings created for the promotion and titled 'A Day in Sydney with Piechy.' These nine paintings appear on the side of every carton of 'Piechy' METRO wine. This series is 'a bittersweet ode to a distant epoch' of Sydney in the late 80s, early 90s. Piechy first appeared in my life in 2003 and since then we have shared many adventures. Charming, cheeky and cheerful, Piechy loves nothing better than going for walks, checking out the local architecture and flirting with the local talent. Born in Sydney, he has many fond memories of surfing at Coogee Beach, picnicking at the Botanical Gardens and riding down Oxford Street in the backseat of a convertible. He currently divides his time between Sydney, Canberra, Düsseldorf and LA.
